Kelley Minish Artworks
Fibres & Clay

My art is inspired by a life-long love of nature and creation, and I look to combine clay and natural objects to show their beauty in new and delightful ways. As a child, I was happiest when exploring and collecting rocks, twigs, and other treasures which I re-imagined into art collages and intricate arrangements.

In 1980, as a student at Pearson College, I encountered and fell in love with pottery under the guidance of my first ceramics instructor, Robin Hopper -- a gift held with deep gratitude. Many decades later in 2022, I retired from a career in family medicine, allowing a new creative space to rediscover the deep grounding that occurs with centering and forming clay.

My work features ceramic foundations to which I add coastline treasures and fibres grown in my garden to create unique functional and decorative forms to delight and connect us to the natural world.

I am a recent addition to the innovative group of Fibres and Beyond artists, a source of whole-hearted encouragement and deep inspiration. I look forward to journeying with them through many creative years ahead.
